A Day in the Life of a Preschool Student
Arrival and Welcome
The Center Director and teachers greet the children warmly in the immersion language, making a daily connection that sets them up for success throughout their day.
Circle Time
During circle time, teachers start the day by setting expectations. They introduce new vocabulary, letters, and math concepts for the day and week. Children engage in songs, word games, and discussions about the calendar and weather, fostering a sense of community and readiness for the day.
Center Activities
Children rotate through learning centers to explore new concepts in math, language arts, science, sensory activities, dramatic play, blocks, and more. This important part of the day is the cornerstone of individualized teaching and learning, achieved through differentiation and small group instruction.
Recess
Recess offers outdoor playtime, helping children develop gross motor skills, socialize, and explore while practicing the immersion language informally.
Story Time and Guided Reading
Children return to hear a story enhancing listening and comprehension skills while introducing them to the literature and culture of the different countries where the target language is spoken.
Free Choice Center Time
During free choice, children select preferred centers while teachers observe and challenge them to enhance their learning.
Lunch
Lunch provides a relaxed setting for practicing the immersion language as children enjoy their meals and socialize with friends.
Nap Time (2 and 3 years old)
Post-lunch, children rest or engage in quiet activities such as reading or drawing.
Group Activities
This is a wonderful time for children to engage in discussion, ask questions, and solve problems as a group. Learning from one another during group activities is fun and exciting as they navigate through science, project development, and expand on ideas taught throughout the day.
Dismissal
The day concludes with children preparing for pick-up, leaving with smiles and enthusiasm for the next day.
